The Consulting Relationship
Every consultant brings a different flavor to the room. These FAQs are designed to give you a sense of how I work, what I care about, and what the typical process looks like. If something here clicks, we’re probably on the right track!
-
I’m warm, direct, and collaborative. I care about great, authentic performance, but I care even more about the person underneath it. I won’t just cheerlead or toss platitudes. I’ll be present, honest, and fully in it with you. I’ll bring structure, presence, and a lot of heart, paired with a fierce belief in your potential. I’ll never encourage you to sacrifice your humanity for stats or surface-level gains. I care about outcomes, but I believe they emerge most powerfully when we start from a grounded, human place. I love a worksheet, and I love a metaphor even more. If you want a space to stretch, reflect, and grow with honesty, tools, and support that meets you where you are, I’ve got you.
-
I help performers train their minds as rigorously as they train in their craft, so they can show up with clarity, courage, and consistency when it matters most. That might mean building confidence, recovering from burnout, navigating pressure, or reconnecting with joy. I use evidence-based tools to support great, authentic performances—the kind that come from a place of truth, not just polish. We go deep, we stay honest, and yes, we care about outcomes. However, we achieve those outcomes by building alignment, presence, and the kind of inner strength that endures.
-
Nope. I’m a performance psychology consultant, not a licensed therapist. This means I work with individuals who want to grow, stretch, and perform more consistently or meaningfully. If deeper clinical concerns arise, I can help refer you to someone who is equipped to support that work.
-
While my specialty is performing artists and athletes, I work with anyone navigating high-performance spaces. That includes creatives, executives, educators, and anyone whose work asks them to show up with excellence and vulnerability.
-
Most of my clients are adolescents and adults (typically ages 14 and up), but I also work with younger performers on a case-by-case basis. If you're under 18, I’ll need parent/guardian consent. What matters most is readiness—not age. If you’re curious and committed, we can explore fit together.
-
I’m equal parts grounded and intuitive. I listen closely—to your words, your body, your energy—and reflect back what I see. I’ll challenge you when you need it, celebrate your breakthroughs, and hold space when things feel messy. This work is never one-size-fits-all. It’s collaborative, adaptive, and rooted in respect.
-
Sometimes, yes. Growth asks us to tell the truth, loosen our grip, take new risks, and let go of old stories. That can be uncomfortable. But it’s also where the gold is. I don’t promise ease—but I do promise it’ll be worth it.
-
Openness, honesty, and a willingness to engage. You don’t need to have all the answers—just a desire to look inward and move forward. I’ll meet you where you are, but I’ll also ask you to show up fully
-
Only as much as you're ready for. This work invites honesty—not oversharing. Vulnerability isn’t the goal; presence is. If we’re doing it right, you’ll feel both stretched and safe. We go at your pace.
-
We’ll define what success looks like together, and decide how we want to measure and track it. That said, you’ll likely notice changes in how you show up: more clarity, steadiness, and alignment with your values. Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes it’s big. Either way, we’ll keep checking in and adjusting along the way.
-
It means turning inward, noticing what drives you, facing what’s hard, and aligning your actions with your values. Sometimes it looks like expanding your mental toolbox. Sometimes it’s breathwork or journaling. Sometimes it’s sitting with a tough truth until it softens. Mental work, like physical training, builds capacity over time.
-
That’s more common than you’d think. Motivation isn’t constant, and passion doesn’t protect us from burnout. Together, we’ll explore the full picture: what’s fueling you, what’s draining you, and what matters most. Maybe the issue is unclear boundaries, overfunctioning, or just needing rest. Maybe it’s a need to reconnect with joy. We’ll name it, tend to it, and build habits that support sustainable momentum and truth.
-
That’s actually a great place to begin. Stuckness is often a signal (not a failure) and not knowing your goals yet doesn’t mean you’re lost. This process can help you find traction and discover clarity through reflection, experimentation, and honest conversation. You don’t have to arrive with answers. Just be open to exploring them.
-
Both. Some clients work with me for a single session around a specific challenge. Others engage in ongoing work across a season or creative cycle. We’ll figure out what makes sense for you.
-
Not at all. You just need to care. If you want to grow, reflect, or show up more fully in your work or art, you’re welcome here.
