Beneath the Spiral: Ethics, Identity, and Care

What roots the work matters as much as what rises from it.

The Spiral of Performance Excellence reflects the arc of growth, but what grounds that growth? Beneath the Spiral lies the soil: values, context, identity, relationships, and ethical care. This page names the deeper foundations that support sustainable performance and guide how I show up in this work. Here you’ll find my commitments to equity, ethics, and whole-human consulting, plus a link to my RISE Model, a decision-making guide rooted in integrity and complexity.

The Ethics That Guide Me

My work is guided by the AASP and CMPC Codes of Ethics, and animated by my own RISE Model of Reflexive, Inclusive, Situated, and Embodied decision-making. This model integrates feminist, multicultural, and practitioner-informed ethics to ask: How do we make good decisions in real-time with real people in all their complexity?

If you’d like to explore it further, you can download a summary of the RISE Model here.

Honoring Complexity and Culture

Performance happens in context. Every performer brings intersecting identities, social realities, and personal histories that shape their experience of pressure, power, and purpose. Honoring those realities isn’t a separate track—it’s part of the work. My practice is committed to anti-oppressive, identity-affirming approaches that center voice, agency, and care. I work to:

  • Acknowledge systemic factors and lived experience

  • Invite cultural humility and co-created understanding

  • Create safer, braver spaces for all identities

This is About More Than Excellence

Yes, I care about performance. Deeply. But not at the cost of your humanity. The real goal is wholeness—performing from a place of alignment, sustainability, and truth. Excellence is an outcome. Integrity is the practice.

This page is a living statement. As I grow, so will this space. If you'd like to discuss further how I put these commitments into action, I welcome the conversation.
